Michigan Hispanic Collaborative

The Michigan Hispanic Collaborative (MiHC) was created with the intent to distinctively teach, mentor, and support academically ambitious first-generation Hispanic high-school and college students in under-resourced Michigan Hispanic communities, and work to eliminate equity barriers that stall academic and employment opportunities. MiHC’s vision is to accelerate Hispanic economic mobility and reduce the growing poverty in the Detroit Hispanic community and poverty throughout Michigan’s Hispanic communities. Through the program, students are able to create community with other students of similar ethnic and geographic identities on college campuses and form connections with faculty, staff and other professionals that serve as aid to the students’ success. Students of the MiHC cohort will work directly with mentors through SuccessConnects and MiHC while simultaneously engaging in community building with other MiHC students.
