SuccessConnects
Connect with an Academic Success Partner (ASP)
Second-year scholars are coached by an Academic Success Partner (ASP) - a junior or senior-level student with exceptional academic and leadership skills.
Your ASP will...
- be a peer coach with insight into resources and opportunities most relevant to you
- have the flexibility to accommodate your schedule and can meet around campus
- connect you with other scholars and the broader university community
Are you in your 3rd year of undergrad or higher?
Do you want to give back?
Meet the 2024-2025 Academic Success Partners!

I became an ASP because I enjoyed my time as a mentee in the program and saw how this program helped me succeed academically, socially, and personally at this university as a first-generation student. I want students in the program to know that they have a community on campus that believes in their success and supports them.

I chose to become an ASP because I’ve received a lot of help from the people and resources at the University of Michigan, and I want to help bring up a new group of scholars and show them all that our school has to offer!

I became an ASP because, as a student who has benefited from this program in so many ways, I want to equip scholars with the tools and resources that will help them thrive throughout their time here at the University of Michigan.

I became an ASP because I believe in the importance of mentorship and having a strong support system. I want my scholars to be connected to the many resources on campus while knowing that there is always someone cheering them on and dedicated to their success.

I became an ASP because I know how overwhelming it can be to navigate all of UMICH’s resources. There are so many, and when you actually need them, it’s hard to know what to pick. I also want to support first-generation students on their way to success as we navigate this year together!

I became an ASP because OAMI and SuccessConnects are communities that have supported me throughout my entire college career. I’ve developed a love and appreciation for mentorship, and I wanted to give back and share what I’ve learned over the years. This is my second year as an ASP, and I’m excited for what the year has to bring.

I became an ASP because I understand how overwhelming it can be to navigate all of UMICH’s resources. With so many options, it’s challenging to know what to choose when you need help. I also want to support first-generation students and ensure we succeed together as we navigate this year!

I became an ASP because the Success Connects program has supported me since my freshman year. I look forward to providing the same support to scholars. I also understand the importance of community, so you can always count on me to be in your corner!
