All undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students who graduated in Fall 2024 or are graduating in Spring 2025, Summer 2025, or Fall 2025 who would like to be recognized as part of the Asian Student Celebration are invited to register.

Information for Students
- We encourage you to wear your traditional cultural clothing under your graduation gown.
- You are free to wear whatever clothing you wish. Some graduates choose to wear something special or less casual, but there is no dress code for this event.
- Doctoral students: please bring your hoods, unattached, so you can be hooded on stage.
Registered students need to check in at the registration table! Students who have NOT yet registered need to register at the table in the graduation room at the Power Center
If you have not yet registered, plan to arrive promptly at 12:30 pm.
Information for Guests
Doors will open for all guests at 1:00 pm.
This is a non-ticketed event and is open to the public.
The graduation will be recorded and available on the OAMI website after the ceremony.
U-M Parking Services suspends parking enforcement for commencement ceremonies. Commencement guests may park for free in any unrestricted University parking space (blue, yellow, or orange spaces).
From Washtenaw Avenue, turn on Palmer Drive, and proceed approximately 100 yards to the 2nd parking entrance on your left marked "Visitor Parking."
Permitted and Prohibited Items
Guests and Graduates are encouraged to bring ONLY necessary items to the graduation celebrations. All items are subject to search.
Changes in local, regional, and national security levels may affect security procedures at Graduation Celebrations. Exceptions for guests with medical or childcare needs (e.g., medical prescriptions, diapers for a baby, etc.) requiring larger bags than permitted will be addressed individually at the doors. All subjects and items are subject to search.

History
Asian Student Celebration, originally known as the Asian & Pacific Islander Celebration, was first held in April 2018. The Asian Student Celebration is an annual event that celebrates students of the East Asian, South Asian, and Southeast Asian communities and recognizes their individual and collective contributions to the university. The celebration is key to bringing together several communities of different ethnic and cultural identities from across student-staff-faculty areas of the University of Michigan campus. The celebration also brings together families and friends. The Asian Student Celebration Student Committee plans this annual celebration to honor students of Asian heritage here at the University of Michigan.
Mission
The Asian Student Celebration celebrates the shared connections and differences that characterize the experiences of Asian students at the University of Michigan and serves as an example of the University of Michigan’s commitment to diversity. The ceremony acknowledges the value and uniqueness of the Asian student experience and commemorates the accomplishments of those students who participate in the celebration. The celebration recognizes faculty and staff who provide academic enrichments, research opportunities, programs, and activities that promote the communal striving and sense of accountability that help students achieve and thrive. The Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives (OAMI), in partnership with the Asian Student Planning Committee, institutes this annual celebration as an expression and tradition of valuing the University’s cultural offerings and commitment to diversity.
