The documentary screening traces the nation’s legacy of systemic inequities to modern-day America, introducing audiences to descendants of enslaved persons and slave owners, profiling their complex intertwined histories, and detailing how their quest to bridge divides galvanized them to seek reparations together. A moderated panel discussion will follow the screening and esteemed panelists include: Alize Asberry Payne, Racial Equity Officer for Washtenaw County; Darryl Ford-Williams, Executive Producer for WQED; Lauren Hood, Founder and Chief Visionary of the Institute for AfroUrbanism and U-M Associate Professor of Practice in Urban and Regional Planning; and Mara Ostfeld, Research Director at the Center for Racial Justice, a Research Associate with the Center for Political Studies, and an Associate Research Scientist in the Ford School of Public Policy.
